Creating a new project in Clayton offers teams organized code review management, customized policies, and targeted insights specific to each codebase. Separate projects allow for clear team assignments, enhancing focus, collaboration, and accountability. By isolating access, Clayton improves security and privacy, enabling users to view only their relevant projects. Each project generates its own analytics, helping teams identify patterns and optimize workflows without interference from unrelated data.
Starting a new project
From the Clayton homepage you can set up your first connection or if you have connection setup you can select the New Project button, then choose either Git Repository or Salesforce Org depending on your needs.
After selecting the appropriate repository and providing a name and description for the project, choose the policies you want to apply. By default, Secure, Compliant, and Reliable are selected, but you can adjust these settings to suit your needs. You’ll also have the option to edit these selections later and add custom rules as needed.
After selecting the Create Project button, Clayton will begin scanning your Git repository. If you’re connecting to a Salesforce Org, click Connect Now and sign in with a Salesforce account that has Admin privileges. If you don’t have the necessary Admin access, you can share the link on the screen with a Salesforce Admin to connect the org.
Archiving and Deleting projects
Archiving a project preserves its settings and history without active monitoring or analysis. To archive, simply select the project, go to Settings, and click Archive. The project will now be Archived meaning its in a read-only mode with limited functionality.
To delete a project, first archive it and then refresh the page. You’ll then see options to either restore the project or delete it permanently. Note that deleting the project will permanently erase all its data, and this action cannot be undone.
Seriously, once it’s deleted, it’s gone—poof, vanished, ceased to exist, never to be seen again! So, take a moment and think it through before hitting delete!
